Problem Solving

Every rider has or will encounter problems with their riding, it’s part of everyone’s motorcycling journey and development. There is a mass of information on the internet or Youtube, a wealth of motorcycling books and magazines and of course other riders, friends and even the bloke down the pub who are always willing to offer advice and their experience of what works for them. The reality is a lot of this is very subjective, ambiguous and conflicting. Identifying the correct cause of a problem, explaining and demonstrating cause and effect and formulating a plan followed by the implementation of the correct solution is critical.

With over 25 years of practical hands-on training experience and a host of teaching and assessment qualifications I will help you overcome any ‘problem’ and help you find the correct solution.

Have you experienced any of the following:

A loss of confidence in your riding ability, bike handling, levels of grip or your own levels of control, your bike feeling unstable or suddenly ‘Sitting up’ when you realise you are going too quickly, the road conditions are wet, slippery or icy or there are potholes, fuel spillages or faulty manhole covers present in the road. Instead of taking a bend as one single curve do you make several alterations and almost ride the bend as if it was a 50 pence piece.

Have you taken a left-hand bend too wide potentially into the path of an oncoming vehicle or lose control on a right-hand bend potentially mounting the verge or had a close shave when another vehicle loses control or cuts a bend.

Do other motorists fail to see you on the approach to a junction or pull out of a junction into your path.

Are you nervous or hesitant when overtaking, had a close shave or near miss and find it difficult judging the speed or distance of oncoming vehicles. Do you occasionally run out of available road during an overtake or find the vehicle you are overtaking accelerates and closes the gap you intended riding into. Have you experienced a vehicle unexpectedly being in the road during an overtake or you didn’t notice a cross roads, side road, driveway or layby when overtaking or end up approach a bend or hazard too quickly after an overtake.

Are you uncomfortable filtering, had a near miss or a close shave, a car opening its door or changing lanes across your path without signalling. Do other vehicles fail to see you, move in front of you without warning or turn across your path after emerging from a side road.

Do you avoid U turns or slow control manoeuvres whenever possible and just paddle your bike around when manoeuvring and are worried about dropping your bike or having the front wheel suddenly slip from underneath you without any warning or the rear wheel lose grip and break.  Are unsure of when or how hard to break, how your tyres work and how much grip they can provide.

We can deal with all of the above, you aren't alone, these are common problems which all motorcyclists experience and can be permanently eliminated from your riding, allowing your confidence to increase, safety to improve and enjoyment of riding return and increase.
